Warm your home this Winter
It's official - Winter is here!
We want to share a few style pointers on how we like to create a warm, cosy and inviting space just by adding some key accessories or updating a few items.
When we think winter and styling, throws and coverlets would have to be the essential accessory you need in your space. Throws and coverlets are the perfect item to place along the foot of your bed or draped over your lounge. There is a vast selection of textile prints, textures and colours on the market especially now as winter is upon us.
For those cooler nights curled up in front of the TV you can’t go wrong with a thick cable knit in a neutral colour to contrast against your sofa. Along with cushions, knits are perfect to use if you want to introduce a texture to your sofa. You can even purchase knitted textile cushions which also work great in creating a warm and cosy space.
Here at The Little Styling Co we love teaming up our bed cushion combos with layering our favourite coverlets and throws on top of each other. Not only does it create an instant high luxe appeal for your bedroom it also creates a sense of warmth and ambiance to your space. There’s nothing like getting into a nice warm bed after a cold rainy work day. It’s always nice to select colours from the warmer shades of the colour wheel. Colour Theory suggests that cooler and warmer tones have a direct influence in our thinking patterns and the way our body and mind responds when we see a certain colour. Tonal colours such as taupe, beige's and cotton whites, will create a cosy and comfortable space making it a little easier to survive the cooler winter nights.
If your flooring has tiles or timber floor boards we suggest using a rug to create a lovely, cosy look and feel to your overall home. Rugs are a great way to create contrast against your flooring and help anchor and ground your furniture. Using rugs in your spaces also offer comfort, keeping those cold feet warm. We recommend choosing a rug that has a woollen weave or woollen pile for the winter months rather than a coarse woven sisal rug.
Another great way to create a warming winter look is to incorporate candles into your vignette styling. You will see that we often like to use candle holders in our coffee table and dining table displays as they are a great way to add height and introduce a different finish to the vignette. There is nothing more comforting than the look of a warm, flickering flame on a cold winters night.
